Family Caregivers Need Your Help

Former Caregivers Offer Confidential Support and Companionship to Current Caregivers

If you have taken care of a relative through a long or serious illness, current caregivers need your help, no matter how small.  People like you, who are “former caregivers,” are often surprised to find out how much their participation is needed and appreciated. Whether as part of a walking group, on the phone, at a social event or in a one-on-one buddy match, current caregivers say:

“It makes such a difference to talk to someone who actually knows what I’m going through. I feel my load getting a little lighter.”

If you are a former caregiver with a little time and wisdom to share, consider a volunteer opportunity with the Caregiver Support Network of VNA Community Healthcare.  Our Volunteers are special people who have survived their caregiving days and have had a chance to rest.  They are good listeners who are willing to give encouragement and support to current caregivers. Everything they do makes a huge difference in the life of a caregiver.

If you would like to give a current caregiver the support you had (or didn’t have) as a caregiver, call Jo Ann Begley at 203.458.5950 for more information or e-mail an application to jbegley@vna-commh.org.
