DSS Aging Services and Protective Services Update
On March 16, Marc Shok, Manager of the Adult Services Division of the CT Dept of Social Services and Cindy Perjon, Manager of Protective Services, presented an"Update on State Aging Services" at VNA Community Healthcare. Mr. Shok described both the structure of the Adult Services Division and recent program changes. Click here for a copy of his handouts on The Medicare Savings Program. He also described the upcoming DSS modernization project that will utilize technology such as document scanning and automated voice response with a new system of "case banking" for more efficient management of client cases. Ms. Perjon described the philosophy of Protective Services, which always starts with the right of self determination. She explained why this philosophy sometimes means Protective Services social workers and community professionals may see cases in a different light. Click here for a copy of her handouts. Both managers noted retirements have risen and there are fewer DSS workers today. |
